P. Hannah Davis, Public Policy and Management

P. Hannah Davis, M.S., is the manager of user support for the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). She leads the coordination, development and implementation of programs to facilitate use of the project by researchers and policymakers seeking data and information on hospital inpatient, emergency department and ambulatory surgery utilization. HCUP users include public health professionals, administrators, academicians and clinicians interested in such issues as cost and quality of health services, medical practice patterns, access to health care programs, and outcomes of treatments. To reach and support HCUP users, Ms. Davis manages the provision of technical assistance services, educational presentations and events, production of online reports and research tools, and dissemination of news.

Ms. Davis came from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), where she was Project Officer for the Area Resource File, a database to which HCUP links. At HRSA, she also worked on physician workforce issues and served as a staff liaison to the Council of Graduate Medical Education. She was involved in projects concerning the supply and distribution of physicians, the adequacy of the physician workforce to reach minority populations, the effects of the Balanced Budget Act on residency positions, and financing mechanisms for Graduate Medical Education. Ms. Davis previously worked at the National Center for Health Statistics and the Indian Health Service as a statistician. Her graduate degree is from Carnegie-Mellon University.
