Sanjay V. Joag, Advocate Medical Group
On April 3, 2009, public testimony on comparative effectiveness
research was given at a meeting of the National Advisory Council
for Healthcare Research and Quality. The testimony represents
the views of the presenter and not necessarily those of the Agency
for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) or the Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The Council provides advice and recommendations to the Director,
AHRQ, and to the Secretary, HHS, on priorities for a national
health services research agenda.

The Advocate Medical Group has over 700 physicians and is a major provider of health care in metropolitan Chicago. The comparative effectiveness program is a vital resource for us and I would enthusiastically support continued and increased funding. My major complaint is that they've managed to cover only a few topics thus far. I'd like to see many additional questions addressed. Comparative effectiveness research is a critical need for the nation and for my group.
