Facilitating Enrollment: Monitoring of Enrollment Under SCHIP

Routine administrative data can be useful in monitoring SCHIP enrollment. Specific data that States can routinely monitor and track are:

  • Number of applications received.
  • Rates of approval and denial.
  • Reasons for denial.
  • Presumptive eligibility cases and conversions to full enrollment (both successful and failed).
  • Medicaid eligibility.
  • Number of closures.
  • Reasons for closure.
  • Reapplication rates and outcomes after closures.
