Inclusion Criteria for Articles in a Meta-Analysis

• Randomized control trial (RCT)
• Published in a peer review journal
• Published in English
• With noted exceptions, randomized at level of subject
• Data analysis done on an “intent to treat” basis
• Abstinence outcome reported at least 5 months after quit date or pre/post delivery for RCTs with pregnant smokers
• Biochemical verification of abstinence required for RCTs with pregnant women
