Program Description

The mission of the University of Rochester (UR) predoctoral and postdoctoral programs in Health Services Research and Policy is "to educate and train students to teach and conduct independent research into the organization, financing, delivery, quality and outcomes of health care services." The content of the training experience is consistent with AHRQ's mission, focusing on "developing individuals interested in producing and disseminating research useful to issues facing the U.S. health care system."

The predoctoral training program is broad, addressing all 8 Special Research Training Objectives identified by AHRQ, with special concentrations in translating research into practice and policy (TRIPP); patient quality; and payments, markets, and organization. The postdoctoral program focuses on TRIPP, quality improvement, and health care disparities. Our programs capitalize on 5 nationally renowned clinical departments with strong HSR components (Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Neurology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry), the NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the UR's unique Center for Community Health.

Current as of August 2008
