Project Description: This research project has two specific aims:

1. Develop and validate an efficient and clinically useful statistical model for use in estimating patient specific survival following lung cancer resection.
2. Determine the specific threshold value of hospital volume at which mortality risk is substantially increased following lung cancer resection.

Career Goals: Dr. Kozower is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He received his MD from the University of Rochester and did his residency in General Surgery at the University of Connecticut. This was followed by a Thoracic Surgery Residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Kozower's long-term career goal is to improve the quality and delivery of lung cancer care.

Progress to Date: This grant has just begun.
