Abstract:

This overview defines pressure sores and their treatment. Key guideline recommendations for people with pressure sores include developing a treatment plan, taking pressure off pressure sores, changing body positions frequently, eating well, asking for pain medication, communicating with your health care provider. Key guideline recommendations for caregivers include evaluating pressure sores weekly, avoiding positioning the patient on a pressure sore, repositioning people hourly, using saline solution and gentle rinsing.
