Elisabeth Uphoff Kato, MD, MRP
Dr. Elisabeth Kato is a Medical Officer with the Effective Healthcare Program at the Center for Outcomes and Evidence in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), where she oversees comparative effectiveness reviews in the areas of diagnostics and medical devices, and for cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine. Her first career was in international development, after which she returned to the US to complete a medical degree at the University of Maryland. Since then, she has pursued an interest in health technology assessment, first as Senior Medical Research Analyst with Hayes Inc., an independent healthcare technology assessment company, and now with AHRQ.
