- Care of an active disease that keeps a problem from getting worse.
- Renal failure-slowing progression.
- Mental health.
- Cardiac/Stroke rehabilitation.
There has been debate over whether to consider tertiary prevention as being true prevention. Regardless of the debate, tertiary prevention is a type of care. The example of renal failure fits the model: If a person has disease that is causing renal failure, then delaying the renal failure for a number of years, is counted as prevention.
