Now it is time to address the Team Project Charter. You have just completed a team-based discussion on several of the items that are contained in the project charter. The project charter is a one-page document that highlights the various key components listed on the slide. This document is a lean tool that basically defines the one-page executive summary that is used in PI projects that shows the evolutionary PI steps. It is updated as you move through the project. The project charter is designed to be a dynamic tool that is updated after each meeting to ensure consistent executive-level communication with your project champion and other key stakeholders. A sample Project RED charter is available on the next slide. While the process of creating a project charter is often perceived to be time consuming, it is a critical-to-success factor because it brings all members of the team together and unites their mission, vision, and meeting structure and serves as an important foundation for sanctioning the project in the eyes of senior leaders. The process of collecting and updating the information is important because the changes within the PI project are dynamic.
