The Essentials Course highlights the key principles and concepts of TeamSTEPPS (Strategies & Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety). The Essentials Course can bring you up to speed quickly about improving resident safety by implementing TeamSTEPPS.

Essentials Instructional Module and Course Slides

The Long-Term Care version of the TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course is based on a pocket guide developed for hospital settings. The pocket guide is available for download or can be ordered from AHRQ's Publications Clearinghouse (AHRQ Pub. No. 06-0020-2). Although the text uses the term "patient" rather than "resident" and examples are from hospital settings, the guide can be useful for long-term care staff.
