Personal Health Information Management and Design of Consumer Health IT

  • Summarized literature regarding patients' personal health information management (PHIM) practices and its linkage to effective development and use of consumer health IT.
  • Conducted a secondary analysis of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) to understand how households who received medical services kept records of those services.
  • Convened a multidisciplinary expert workshop to establish an agenda to move the field forward.
  • Developed a final report that includes a framework for studying this topic and recommendations for ongoing research, implementation, and policy work.
