  632 beds- Adult and Children's Medical Center, Medical Office Practice, Radiation Therapy Center, Comprehensive Cancer Center

Institute for Family-Centered Care

Patient- and family-centered care is an approach to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of health care that is grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships among health care providers, patients, and families. It redefines the relationships in health care.

Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.

• Created strategic plan to implement PFCC throughout the New Children's Medical Center in 1997.
• Extended PFCC programming as a model into adult inpatient and outpatient areas, beginning with the Neuroscience Center in 2002.
• Involved Patients in a Family Forum (Health Partners Advisory Council).
