  • AHRQ's "Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes of Elective Induction of Labor" and Medicaid Medical Directors Learning Network:
    • Found increase in Cesarean deliveries when labor is induced vs. spontaneous.
    • Based on AHRQ report, Medicaid program reduced labor inductions without clear medical indications in near-term infants by 40% over 18 months.
    • Prevented nearly 200 neonatal intensive care unit admissions.
