While Health IT was shown to improve outcomes, few studies demonstrated impact on patient-centered care (as defined by the IOM [Institute of Medicine]):

    • 14 studies focused on improving responsiveness to the needs and preferences of individual patients.
    • 25 studies focused on improving shared decisionmaking or related measures of patient-clinician communication or access to information.
