AHCPR National Advisory Council To Meet October 25

The National Advisory Council for Health Care Policy, Research,
and Evaluation will meet
October 25, 1996, at The Hotel Washington in Washington, D.C. The
Council advises the
Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Administrator of
the Agency for Health Care
Policy and Research (AHCPR) on matters relating to AHCPR's
activities. The Agency is the
lead Federal agency charged with supporting research to enhance
the quality, appropriateness,
and effectiveness of, and access to, health care services.
The meeting will begin with a discussion on the re-engineering of
AHCPR, the Agency's
research portfolio and recent grant awards. Council members also
will discuss the challenges
facing AHCPR, as well as AHCPR's research to increase the science
base in health care,
improve health care quality and help consumers make better
decisions, and understand the
changing health care marketplace.
The National Advisory Council is comprised of representatives
from academia, consumer
groups, professional clinical organizations, managed care
organizations, and other government
agencies.
