Engaging Residents in Change

Teams participating in the collaborative found that gaining resident support was integral to successfully implementing the Chronic Care Model in the curriculum.

Although teams often encountered some reluctance from residents to the new approach, learning from resident push-back and involving them in modifying—and even leading—the approach proved successful in overcoming this barrier.
