A major focus of the research will involve studies of the medically underserved, particularly in the Mexican-American community. This project builds on three years of previous funding that enabled the UTMB to develop an infrastructure for successfully advancing HSR in underserved populations. This was accomplished by increasing the number of UTMB minority faculty conducting such research, recruiting additional faculty, and strengthening the training opportunities through formal courses, seminars and tutorials in essential areas such as biostatistics. The project will increase infrastructure resources for scientific communication and dissemination, increase the number of UTMB faculty and medical students who conduct health services, and will facilitate access to pilot funding from UTMB research centers.Return to New Research Infrastructure Development InitiativesProceed to Next Section Current as of December 2012 Internet Citation: mrispsum4.htm.
