Methodological Considerations in Generating Provider Performance Score

Two graphs show different levels of measurement error. In the first,  two data points are close together (60 and 75) but measurement error is higher. The range of uncertainty is broader (40 to 95 for the 60 data point and 60 to 90 for the 75 data point), so it is harder to tell who is best. In the second graph, the data points are the same (60 and 70), but measurement error is lower. The range of uncertainty is smaller (55 to 65 for the 60 data point and 72 to 77 for the 75 data point).
