Denominator

U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized adults age 18 and older who had at least 1 visit to a doctor's office or clinic in the previous 12 months (not including visits to an emergency room).

Numerator

U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized adults age 18 and older who had at least 1 visit to a doctor's office or clinic in the previous 12 months (not including visits to an emergency room) who subsequently reported that their providers always (table 168A), usually (table 168B), or sometimes or never (table 168C) listened carefully to them.
