1. User Inputs

The information that you enter in the fields below will help customize the model to your specific needs. You can change these inputs at any time to get new estimates for your planning needs.

Before starting, would you like to view the Clinic Patient Flow Plans used in this model?

I. COVERED POPULATION AND TIME FRAME FOR RESPONSE

II. ANTICIPATED STAFFING REQUIREMENTS

Select the hours of operation for the campaign's dispensing clinics, the number of anticipated work shifts per day, and the percentage of "downtime" for the average staff worker (for breaks, lunch, etc.)

1. Hours of clinic operation:
2. Number of work shifts:
%

III. DISPENSING SITE CHARACTERISTICS:
1. Patient Flow

If your plans do not include patient briefings and you know your anticipated per-clinic flow rate, select "Y" in the first box, "User Defined Flow Rate." If you are planning on using briefings at each clinic, select "N" (which will automatically select "Y" for "Briefing Characteristics Method"). Then enter the average number, size, and duration of briefings you anticipate across all clinics.

A. User Defined Flow Rate: NO (selected)
B. Briefing characteristics method: YES (selected)
Note: A and B are mutually exclusive.

To calculate flow using the Briefing Characteristics Method, enter the following requested informationCDC Recommendation
(3-5)
(50-75)
(approx. 20 min.)
Average Patient Flow Rate per Clinic (pts/min/clinic):
10pts/min/clinic

2. Clinic Layout Customization

Most stations shown on the Diagram page are necessary to ensure efficient and accurate processing through each type of dispensing clinic. However, at least 2 stations in the communicable agent model--Crisis/Isolation Counseling and Testing--should be considered optional. Select a "Y" next to those stations that you want to include and a "N" to those you do not want to include in your dispensing clinic:

A) Crisis / Isolation Counseling: (on-site mental health staff)
B) Testing: (only for communicable agent model)

3. Process Times

The staffing estimates are proportional to the amount of time required to process an individual at each of the dispensing clinic stations. You can choose here from one of three pre-determined sets of process time estimates: Baseline, Slow, or Fast. See Section 10 for further customization of these estimates.

A) Slow Process Times: Process time estimates slower than large-scale dispensing exercises in the United States over the last two years. more...

B) Baseline Process Times: Process times that represent averages based partly on data from live dispensing exercises. more...

C) Fast Process Times: 'Best-case' scenarios in terms of speed. more…

Select your process time scenario

IV. EVENT CHARACTERISTICS:
1. Communicable vs. Non-Communicable Biological Agent

Select biological agent:

2. Event Scenarios

The setting and magnitude of the event to which you are responding will also influence the characteristics of your campaign. Select from one of 3 possible event scenarios as described below.

A) Pre-Event: Prophylaxis campaign operates prior to the occurrence of any illness from the target biological agent.

B) Small-Scale Event: Campaign operates in response to a small-scale bioterrorist event or outbreak.

C) Large-Scale Event: Campaign operates in response to a large-scale bioterrorist event or outbreak.

Select event scenario:

Note: two additional briefing rooms will be included in the staffing calculations (raising your total to 2); however, the overall POD flow will remain unchanged.
