2. OVERALL MODEL OUTPUTS
This page leads you through the main outputs produced by BERM, including the estimated number of clinics and core staff needed to successfully carry out the mass prophylaxis campaign described below. These initial calculations assume unlimited available staff. To see the effects of limited available staff, go to Section 6, 'STAFFING CONSTRAINTS'. To modify the estimates provided here, simply return to the previous section, 'User Inputs', and change your inputs.
The calculations are based on your input of a population of people processed during a campaign of days. Dispensing clinics are operating under fast Process Times in a large-Scale Event scenario involving Communicable (e.g. Smallpox) biological agents.
PART 1: CAMPAIGN CHARACTERISTICS & REQUIREMENTS, NO STAFF LIMITATIONS
Your response plan has the following essential features:
A) Patient flow rate for the entire prophylaxis campaign (patients processed per unit time): |
250000 People per day |
(Based on 2 day(s) and 8 hours of operation) |
31250 People per hour |
521 People per minute |
B) Number of clinics needed to carry out campaign in stated time frame: |
521 Dispensing clinics |
(assumes that all clinics have identical layout and rates of patient flow) |
C) Total core staff for campaign: (Note: Core staff refers to all personnel involved in direct patient interaction, in contrast to support staff (see Section 4)) |
| |
19018
Core Staff
|
(based on 2 shifts per 8 hour day and 15% downtime) |
PART 2: PER-CLINIC CHARACTERISTICS & REQUIREMENTS, NO STAFF LIMITATIONS
The following estimates describe the workings of each dispensing clinic in your campaign:
A) People processed per clinic per day of operation |
| |
480 People per day |
(based on a per-clinic flow rate of 1 pts/min across all sites and an 8 hour operating day.) |
B) Total core staff (all shifts) required per clinic:
This estimate is the total core staff assigned to an individual clinic per operating day to ensure full functionality. Not all of these staff will be operational at the same time.

Core Staff per DVC |
(based on 2 shifts per 8 hour day and 15% downtime) |
C) Active core staff in operation at any given time during clinic operating hours:
This estimate is the total core staff assigned to an individual clinic per operating day to ensure full functionality.
