6. Campaign Modifications Due to Limited Staff

This section allows you to see the effect of limited staff availability on prophylaxis campaign parameters. Limited staff may force a decrease in the number of people processed and/or an increase in the time needed to prophylax a given population. Calculations on this sheet are based in part on data from the 'USER INPUT' sheet. To modify these calculations, click the 'USER INPUT' button at the bottom of this sheet.

For all calculations, clinics are operating under Fast Process Times in a Large-Scale Event scenario involving Communicable (e.g. Smallpox).

EFFECT OF LIMITED STAFF ON MASS PROPHYLAXIS CAMPAIGN

Enter an estimate of the maximum available "core staff" you have for your ENTIRE campaign. Core staff is defined as those individuals trained (or rapidly trainable) to work in direct patient contact within the dispensing clinic. This includes triage and medical evaluation staff, forms distributors/collectors, vaccinators, etc. It DOES NOT include ancillary personnel such as managers, security, custodial, data entry, food service workers, etc.

The following calculations describe the possible campaign characteristics based on your available core staff, incorporating both downtime and number of shifts.

A) Population you can process in a 2 day campaign with 700 available core staff:
18399 People (based on 2 shifts per 8 hour day and 15% downtime)
481601 people will not be covered by your campaign of 700 core staff within your target campaign length of 2 days.

B) Required length of campaign to process 500000 people with 700 available core staff:
54 Days
(based on 2 shifts per 8 hour day and 15% downtime)
Your entire population of 500000 will be covered but you will exceed your target campaign length by 52 days.

In order to cover your entire population of 500000 people within 2 days, you can do one or more of the following:

b) Consider decreasing one or more station process time (e.g. triage or vaccination).

c) Consider operating your dispensing clinics for 24 hours per day.
