Preface

Abt Associates Inc., serving as prime contractor, the Geisinger Health System, and Relyon Media Inc. collaborated on this project. The contract was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (contract No. 290-00-003, task orders 5 and 6).

Abt staff designed the structure for the Web-based inventory tool (called the Emergency Preparedness Resource Inventory—A Tool for Local, Regional, and State Planners) and assisted in the pilot field test.

Geisinger Health System assembled a project Steering Committee in Pennsylvania, created the resource list and list of location types for the data warehouse, and implemented the pilot field test.

Relyon Media, a Web development firm, programmed the Web-based tool based upon input of both the Abt and GHS project staffs.

An accompanying Technical Manual is intended for System Administrators implementing this tool in their own jurisdictions. The software tool itself is available without cost from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; it is copyrighted and cannot be resold.
