December 2010

The New York Quality Alliance incorporated AHRQ's video, "Questions are the Answer," within its Web site to help educate New York state consumers about effectively interacting with clinicians during appointments.

After viewing the video at an AHRQ Chartered Value Exchange (CVE) Learning Network conference in 2008, New York Quality Alliance staff decided that it would be a valuable resource to help consumers. During the first six months that the video information was available on the organization's Web site, it received 2,015 page views.

Betsy Mulvey, Project Director for the New York Quality Alliance, says, "The video is fun, creative, relevant, and timely. We identified it as a positive consumer tool that would help encourage patients to ask questions and better communicate with their doctors."

The New York Quality Alliance is comprised of representatives from health plans, physician groups, businesses, consumers, and government. It is funded to develop a uniform data aggregation and reporting project that promotes statewide quality performance improvements among health care practitioners. As a CVE, the New York Quality Alliance participates in AHRQ's CVE Learning Network.
