Health Care Delivery
This fact sheet summarizes grants and other research projects funded by AHRQ related to health Information Technology (Health IT). In 2004 and in 2005, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) awarded grants and contracts to promote use of health information technology (health IT). Also in 2005, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched a pilot project to measure the impact of electronic prescribing data transmission systems on patient safety and quality of care.
To date, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has awarded more than $166 million in grants and contracts to support and to stimulate investment in health Information Technology (IT). AHRQ has a central role in the movement to adopt health IT.
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) awarded projects for supporting statewide data sharing and interoperability activities on a State or regional level aimed at improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for patients and populations.
