Effectiveness of Care: HIV/AIDS

2009 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports

The National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States. It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care: effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness.

Testing for HIV Infection
Women ages 15-44 who completed a pregnancy in the last 12 months and received an HIV test as part of prenatal care
People ages 15-44 who ever received an HIV test outside of blood donation
People ages 15-44 with any HIV risk behaviors in the last 12 months who received an HIV test outside of blood donation in the last 12 months

Management of HIV/AIDS
New AIDS cases per 100,000 population age 13 and over
Adult patients with HIV and CD4 count ≤200 who received Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) prophylaxis
Adult patients with HIV and CD4 count <50 who received Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) prophylaxis
HIV infection deaths per 100,000 population

Measure Source

HIV Research Network (HIVRN).

Tables

5_2_2.1 Adult patients with HIV and CD4 count ≤200 who received Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) prophylaxis, United States, 2004 and 2006.

5_2_2.2 Adult patients with HIV and CD4 count ≤200 who received Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) prophylaxis, United States, 2006, by:
