2011 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports

The National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States. It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care: effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness.

a. All Medicare dialysis patients who initiated therapy in the given year were included. Patients with prior kidney transplants and patients over the age of 69 were excluded. Percents are estimated using the Kaplan-Meier methodology. Follow-up is censored at removal from the list, death, or the end of the three year period.
