2011 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports

The National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States. It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care: effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness.

^a. Consistent with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) software, obstetric trauma must involve 3rd or 4th degree lacerations.

^b. Rates are adjusted by age using U.S. hospitalizations for 2000 as the U.S. standard population. When reporting is by age, there is no adjustment.
