Dr. Xu, Ph.D., associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine, trained in health economics and outcomes research and has always been interested in improving quality and outcomes of care while balancing the cost implications.
Dr. Xu has explored the impact of health insurance (managed care versus traditional fee-for-service) on healthcare use by older adults and identified hospital variation in practices related to childbirth care.
