Children's Dental Care Access in Medicaid: CHIRI[TM] Issue Brief No. 2

The Child Health Insurance Research Initiative (CHIRI[TM]) is an effort to supply policymakers information to help them improve access to, and the quality of, health care for low-income children.

This figure gives information about the types of dental care used by Medicaid-enrolled children in Alabama and Georgia. In Alabama, 48% was Preventive + Intensive (restorative, emergency , and/or surgical); 43% was Preventive only; and 9% was Intensive Only (restorative, emergency , and/or surgical); In Georgia, 42% was Preventive + Intensive (restorative, emergency , and/or surgical); 51% was Preventive only; and 7% was Intensive Only (restorative, emergency , and/or surgical).
