Topic: Individuals with Special Healthcare Needs
The special healthcare needs population includes people with disabilities and/or chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions, those needing long-term care, and terminally ill people needing end-of-life care. For these individuals, access to healthcare can be challenging. Improving access to affordable, high-quality healthcare is therefore essential for this population, particularly for individuals who cannot be supported by family caregivers and who require long-term or hospice/palliative care and ancillary services at home or in assisted living facilities.
