The case for prioritizing diversity in the transplantation workforce to advance kidney health equity.
The authors of this article propose a more diverse transplant workforce to address the problem of kidney transplant inequity. Black patients are disproportionately affected by kidney failure and systemic barriers to kidney transplantation such as delayed referrals, which may be due to clinician bias. Workforce diversity would help to alleviate the harm of implicit biases.

Gender and racial disparities in the transplant surgery workforce.
This review explores trends in the United States (US) transplant surgery workforce with a focus on historical demographics, post-fellowship job market, and quality of life reported by transplant surgeons. Ongoing efforts to improve women and racial/ethnic minority representation in transplant surgery are highlighted in this paper. Future directions to create a transplant workforce that reflects the diversity of the US population are discussed.

Women and underrepresented minorities in academic anesthesiology.
The demographics of the United States is changing with 51% of the population being female, and 32% of the population identifying as an underrepresented minority (URM, ie, African American/black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander). This article provides an overview of the current status of women and URM faculty in academic anesthesiology and provides a framework for academic advancement.

Facilitating racial and ethnic diversity in the health workforce.
This study explored changes in the racial and ethnic diversity of the health workforce in the United States over the last decade, and evidence on the effectiveness of programs designed to promote racial and ethnic diversity in the U.S. health workforce. Findings suggested that although the health workforce overall is becoming more diverse, people of color are most often represented among the entry-level, lower-skilled health occupations.

Promoting progress or propagating problems: strategic plans and the advancement of academic faculty diversity in U.S. medical schools.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether academic institutions that have engaged in strategic planning for faculty diversity, as exhibited by plan presence on their websites, had a higher rate of underrepresented minorities in medicine (URM) faculty growth than institutions who do not have evidence of such planning.
