Patient and provider experience of electronic patient portals and secure messaging in mental health treatment.
This study explored patient and provider experience of patient electronic access to the mental health treatment record and the use of secure messaging. Participants received online surveys with questions about their experiences. Researchers concluded that the implementation of electronic access to mental health notes requires a transition from viewing the medical record as the exclusive tool of providers to that of a collaborative tool for patients and providers to achieve treatment goals.

A qualitative study of patient experiences of care in integrated behavioral health and primary care settings: more similar than different.
In this study, the authors examined, using qualitative methods, patients' experiences of care in integrated settings. The study included 24 patients receiving care across five practices participating in Advancing Care Together (ACT)-a 4-year demonstration project (2010-2014) of primary care and community mental health centers (CMHCs) integrating care. The investigators found that patients in both primary care and CMHCs perceived similar benefits from integrated care related to personal growth, improved quality, and access to care.

Transgender clients' experiences of eating disorder treatment.
The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of transgender individuals with eating disorders (EDs) and their related ED treatments. An online questionnaire was administered to 84 transgender individuals with EDs who answered questions about their experiences with ED treatment. The study found 3 themes: 1) role of the body in treatment, 2) negative experiences with clinicians, and 3) recommendations for treatment centers and providers. Participants reported inadequacies in clinicians' gender competence, which contributed to beliefs that the ED treatment was ineffective and sometimes even harmful.

The effectiveness of clinician feedback in the treatment of depression in the community mental health system.
This article described the development and evaluation of a clinician feedback intervention for use in community mental health settings. The Community Clinician Feedback System (CCFS) was developed in collaboration with a community partner to meet the needs of providers working in such community settings. Satisfaction ratings of the CCFS indicated that the system was widely accepted by clinicians and patients.
