Ethnic disparities in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease incidence and prevalence among rheumatoid arthritis patients in the United States: a systematic review.
In this systematic review, the authors sought to describe the incidence and prevalence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) stratified by race/ethnicity within the US population of those with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They found insufficient data on racially/ethnically diverse RA patients and ASCVD outcomes. They recommended that future studies report the prevalence of ASCVD in various races/ethnicities with RA in the United States, as these data would help inform clinicians on how best to manage cardiovascular disease risk in RA.

The authors of this study compared Framingham and 2013 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) risk scores in subjects with systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis and assessed demographic, cardiovascular, and rheumatologic characteristics associated with discordant scores (high-risk ACC/AHA scores but low-risk Framingham scores).

Association of hyperlipidaemia, inflammation and serological status and coronary heart disease among patients with rheumatoid arthritis: data from the National Veterans Health Administration.
The researchers studied the association of serum lipids, inflammation, and seropositivity on coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. They found that in the study population of predominantly male veterans, higher levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein were associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke, and higher levels of HDL-C were inversely associated with heart attack and stroke.

Disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis and the risk of cardiovascular events.
The researchers studied whether time-averaged disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) correlates with cardiovascular (CV) events. They found that reduced time-averaged disease activity in RA is associated with fewer CV events.
