The TeamSTEPPS for improving diagnosis team assessment tool: scale development and psychometric evaluation.
The authors developed and evaluated the TeamSTEPPS Improving Diagnosis Team Assessment Tool (TAT), which assesses diagnostic teamwork and communication in five critical domains. The TAT was administered as a cross-sectional survey to health professionals in nine diverse US health systems. A psychometric evaluation demonstrated that the TAT was a reliable and valid instrument for assessing teamwork and communication among and across diagnostic teams. The authors concluded that TAT added a novel, evidence-based measurement tool.

Implementing team huddles in small rural hospitals: how does the Kotter model of change apply?
The purpose of this study was to examine how the process of change prescribed in Kotter's change model applies in implementing team huddles, and to assess the impact of the execution of early change phases on change success in later phases. The investigators found mixed support for the Kotter model.

Types of internal facilitation activities in hospitals implementing evidence-based interventions.
The aim of the study was to examine internal facilitation activities at 10 critical access hospitals in rural Iowa during their implementation of TeamSTEPPS, a patient safety intervention, and to identify characteristics that distinguish different types of facilitation activities. The investigators concluded that there are four types of facilitation activities that hospitals engage in while implementing evidence-based practices, offering a parsimonious way to characterize facilitation activities.

Strategies to improve management of shoulder dystocia under the AHRQ Safety Program for Perinatal Care.
The purpose of this study using TeamSTEPPS was to assess the implementation of safety strategies to improve management of births complicated by shoulder dystocia in labor and delivery units. Results suggested that successful management of shoulder dystocia requires a rapid, standardized, and coordinated response. The Safety Program for Perinatal Care strategies to increase safety of shoulder dystocia management are scalable, replicable, and adaptable to unit needs and circumstances.
