Building community and resilience in Massachusetts nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Researchers discuss the partnership of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association and Hebrew SeniorLife with AHRQ ECHO National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network (the Network). This educational program provided 16 weeks of free weekly virtual sessions to 295 eligible nursing homes. The Network weekly meetings were a source of connection, emotional support, and validation and may be a valuable mechanism to support resilience and wellbeing for nursing home staff.

A needs assessment of family physicians to inform development of educational resources on antipsychotic use in dementia.
The authors assessed the needs and preferred resources of Iowa physicians to inform the development of educational resources for best practice dementia care and compared the responses of nursing home medical directors with nonmedical directors. They found that medical directors and nonmedical directors had similar preferences for resources used and information needs, with preference for online resources, pocket guides, a handbook, consulting pharmacists, and facility in-services being the most commonly preferred sources of new information. Medical directors were significantly more aware of the FDA warning on antipsychotic use in dementia and treated more nursing home patients. No differences were observed between groups related to confidence in and use of nondrug strategies instead of antipsychotics to manage behavioral symptoms of dementia.

Simulation research in gastrointestinal and urologic care-challenges and opportunities: summary of a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to examine the extent to which simulation approaches have been used by skilled proceduralists (not trainees) caring for patients with gastrointestinal and urologic diseases. The current status of research findings in the use and effectiveness of simulation applications was reviewed, and numerous knowledge gaps and research needs were identified by the faculty and the attendees.

Dissemination of evidence from systematic reviews through academic CME providers: a feasibility study.
This study explored the feasibility of working with continuing medical education (CME) directors and faculty to promote systematic review utilization. They found that potential barriers included faculty unfamiliarity with systematic reviews, challenges in maintaining review currency, and review scope. Systematic review evidence and summary products proved acceptable to CME directors, course faculty, and learners by multiple measures, demonstrating the feasibility of approaches to use AHRQ-SRs in CME courses and programming.

Identifying effective approaches for dissemination of clinical evidence--correlation analyses on promotional activities and usage of a guideline-driven interactive case simulation tool in a statewide HIV-HCV-STD clinical education program.
The investigators analyzed correlations between promotional activities and usage of a guideline-driven interactive case simulation tool (ICST) for insomnia screening and treatment in a statewide HIV-HCV-STD clinical education program. They found that promotional activities were strongly correlated with the number of audience as well as the intensity of use of the target resource, with strong correlations identified between the sending of email newsletters and the intensity of resource use by promotion recipients, by new users, and through the most convenient access channel associated with the promotion.

Bringing it home: expanding the local reach of dissemination and implementation training via a university-based workshop.
The Colorado Research in Implementation Science Program (CRISP) developed and delivered an introductory D&I workshop adapted from national programs to extend training reach and foster a local learning community for D&I. This paper describes the context of the local training environment, findings from a pre-workshop needs assessment survey, training design and structure, and post-workshop evaluation. Lessons learned may inform others intending to develop local D&I training workshop.

A consensus statement on trauma mental health: the New Haven Competency Conference process and major findings.
The purpose of this article was to state the need for a comprehensive model of trauma-focused, empirically informed competencies for psychiatrists, and describe the work resulting from the New Haven Competencies consensus conference. The 60 participating experts outlined 5 broad foundational and functional competencies in the areas of trauma-focused and trauma-informed scientific knowledge, psychosocial assessment, psychosocial interventions, professionalism, and relational and systems. Eight cross-cutting competencies were voted into the resulting consensus statement.
