Webinar: Improving Antibiotic Prescribing in Telemedicine
Learn how participating practices in the AHRQ Safety Program for Telemedicine reduced antibiotic prescribing for antibiotic-inappropriate respiratory tract infection visits 21% by the end of the program compared with baseline. Join the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for a webinar on the new Toolkit To Improve Antibiotic Use in Telemedicine on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. Three experts involved in the project will explain how telemedicine practices can use practical, evidence-based antibiotic stewardship resources to support appropriate prescribing during telemedicine visits and improve patient safety.
What's in the Toolkit
Developed by experts at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with advice from a technical expert panel and feedback from program participants, the toolkit includes guides for physicians and other providers, patient handouts, educational webinars, sample responses to patient portal messages and an implementation guide. Resources address diagnosing and managing common infections through telemedicine, communicating with patients and families about antibiotics and strengthening antibiotic stewardship.
What You'll Learn
Presenters will share findings from the AHRQ Safety Program for Telemedicine, which enrolled 522 practices nationwide, 476 of which completed the program, and will show how practices can apply the program's approaches to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
Who Should Attend
Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and practice leaders in practices that offer telemedicine, including primary care, pediatric, urgent care and outpatient specialty practices; community health centers and federally qualified health centers; student health clinics; and direct-to-consumer and virtual-first practices.
