Health Systems Research
Health systems research provides evidence that, when applied can make healthcare affordable, safe, effective, equitable, accessible, and patient-centered. AHRQ invests in research to generate new evidence to help health care systems and health care professionals improve the lives of the patients they serve. For example, findings from health systems research enable frontline clinicians and patients to make better decisions, support health care delivery systems organize care processes to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency, and can be used to design healthcare benefits and inform policy.
AHRQ is a major national funder of investigator-initiated health systems research. We fund research to improve healthcare. AHRQ works to ensure that the research we fund is addressing the most pressing issues facing our nation.
