Grant Number: R21 HS23083-01
Description
There are no existing standards, guidelines, or measures of quality of care designed specifically for patients with multiple chronic conditions (MCC). The study develops and evaluates a foundational composite measure of care quality for populations with MCC. This "MCC quality composite" is based on electronically available data and will be applicable across conditions. The study blends qualitative and quantitative methods and focuses on Medicare MCC population.
Specific Aims
- Identify and refine a list of components of the quality measure, using a modified Delphi process.
- Use multivariable modeling to evaluate the composite measure and its predictive validity for hospitalization and patient-reported outcomes.
- Describe patient level characteristics associated with receipt of high quality MCC care.
Main Objective
Develop and evaluate a composite measure of care quality for MCC population.
