Major Home Health Care Quality Measurement Sets
The National Quality Forum (NQF), a multistakeholder organization established to standardize health care quality measurement and reporting, has endorsed several consensus standards for skilled home health services. It has also published reports on home health mesaures.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid's Services (CMS) reports many of the NQF-endorsed measures on its Home Health Compare website. Some other report developers also present this data, sometimes along with other information about home health care.
CAHPS® Home Health Care Survey
The CAHPS Home Health Care Survey addresses the experiences of home health care patients with agency staff. It covers topics such as patient care, communication, and pain and medication. The measures from this survey were among those endorsed by NQF in April 2009. In January 2015, the NQF endorsement for the CAHPS Home Health Care Survey was renewed.
In 2009, CMS began a voluntary national implementation of the CAHPS Home Health Care Survey. Learn more about CMS's use of this survey.
